Press Release : Afrikki supports the people in Burkina Faso faced with the advent of another coup

• The Afrikki network is following with attention and concern the latest developments and the current situation in Ouagadougou.

First of all, we would like to express our support for the people of Burkina Faso and call on all of those who are involved to exercise restraint, to respect the lives and human rights of all citizens.

We are condemning the violence and we’d like to reiterate our indignation over the never-ending power struggles taking place in the country of the great Thomas Sankara.

We remain extremely worried about the succession of coups d’état on the continent made as a way to resolve crisis when it is clear they only bring about new ones.

Africa cannot remain forever the playground for foreign imperialisms or new local populisms.

Our thoughts stay focused on the future and the rights of the already sorely tested Burkinabé people.

We wish a satisfactory outcome for the higher interest of the people of Burkina Faso.
